There are three types of mouse found in New Jersey. The deer mouse and field mouse are both light brown with a white underbelly and are about three inches long. The house mouse is gray in color,
about two inches long with a somewhat pointed nose. The most common type of rat found in New Jersey is the Norway rat with its long tail and robust body.
Rodents often enter the home or commercial space in search of food, shelter, warmth and water. Hence, they are a greater problem in the fall and winter months. They gain entry through cracks and
holes including those made for utility wires and the like. Mice and rats can chew through wood, electrical cords, aluminum, cement and sheetrock. Rats may leave oily smudges on baseboards or
walls. They can ruin baseboards, cupboards and furniture and cause structural damage.
The only evidence of the presence of rats or mice may be droppings as they forage throughout the home or commercial property. Rat droppings are up to 1 inch long and bullet shaped. Mouse
droppings are about the size of a grain of rice.
Rat and mouse removal involves baiting and trapping the rodent, sealing up the entry points, and removing their droppings. Buggin’ Us Pest Control will take care of all of it for
you.
